I had a very unpleasant experience with this restaurant tonight. I ordered food at about 915 on seamless. I recieved a confirmation at 923 from the restaurant. I assumed the food was cooking. The estimate at that point was 30-45 mins.
At 1030 the food had not arrived and I called the restaurant. They appologized for the delay and told me it was on the way. I called again at 1050 and the same girl appologized again and told me it was coming.
At 11:05 I called again. This time a different person answered the phone, told me that they had not recived the order, and that furthermore the address I had given to them (a professional address) was not deliverable. He rudely (immediately) hung up. I called back and requested to cancel the order and he told me ok, and hung up.
The order was not canceled, and the charge was still pending on the order. I then called seamless and they resolved the matter quickly, refunding me the amount. Interestingly, they told the seamless rep that it had been delivered (which was enitrely untrue, and contrary to my earlier phone conversation with the restaurant).
Would not order from again.

THE DELIVERY GUY LITERALLY JUST TOLD ME USUALLY THEY DELIVER FOOD LATE. THAT WAS ALMOST VERBATIM.

The dumpling soup was really strange - the dumplings were made of very thick pastry, almost and inch thick in places! Kinda like when you try to make dumplings for the first time and don't roll the case thin enough. Soup was flavorless and tasted slightly acid like dish water. Didn't seem right. Food arrived fast as I ordered in the middle of a Sunday afternoon.

Ordered via seamless, and the estimated delivery time was half an hour to forty-five minutes. After an hour, I called and asked what was going on. "It's on the way," the person answering the phone said, and hung up. Another twenty minutes went by and I called again. "You hung up on me before, how much longer will it be?" This time he said the delivery guy had been gone "a long time," and he'd call to find out what was going on. Surprise surprise, the delivery guy showed up a few minutes later.
We opened up our order and at first it looked like half of it had been forgotten. Then we realized that my friend's lo mein and dumpling combo was in the same case, and my "general tso and dumpling combo" was actually dumplings in general tso sauce. I called back to ask where the meat was, as the "combo" was four dollars more than just the dumplings on their own, and was told there wasn't any meat included. I had just paid four dollars for a few spoonfuls of general tso's sauce. (The guy tried to say that the combo didn't include meat, but the lo mein combo definitely included lo mein, not just some "lo mein sauce"...ugh.
Anyways, it took so long for the food to get here that the scallion pancakes were completely soggy and gross, and if the menu had been clear about there being no actual general tso's chicken I wouldn't have paid four bucks for the sauce. The service was late and rude, and when I said I'd be leaving a review on yelp the guy on the phone started yelling at me. Yeah, dude, way to leave a good "taste" in your customer's mouth. Then again, by that point, they'd lost me as a customer.
I don't plan on ordering from Plump Dumpling, or their sister restaurant "Yummy House" (HAH!) again.

The food is simply not good. I ordered the dumpling platter and chow fun noodles for lunch and it took an hour and a half to get to me. There were 6 dumplings, not 8 like the menu says, and they were over cooked just like the noodles were. They were extremely sticky to the point where I could barley get them out of the container. I've had delicious dumpling before and these are definitely not them. I threw most of my order out so it was a total waste of food...and money.

These are by far some of my favorite dumplings in town. Word of advice though the veggie dumplings are better fried than steamed. Curry noodle and dumping soup is delicious. Delivery time is almost always considerably less then the estimated time as well. They're fast and delicious.

The dumplings are seriously delicious. I order them every time. Tried some of the soups - good, spicy. Overall very happy with this place. Always on time (I order dinner from them 1x week), food is always right and always hot.

This time the food was overpriced, the menu description did not match the food recieved (Shumai 8 pieces was on ly six pieces on BOTH orders). The egg roll was cold, uncooked, and tough skined. Also, once again something liquid had spilled in the bag. The special request for extra duk sauce resulted in one paquet of duk sauce. No napkins or service pieces. I will not be ordering from this place again.

I LOVE Plump Dumpling. My go-to dumpling and rice place. They are also super friendly in-store. This last time I ordered though, I requested the delivery person to not ring my buzzer, but to call me instead, because my roommate was asleep and no one can sleep through the awful sound of our apartment buzzer AND it doesn't even work! (Thanks, landlords.) The delivery person not only rang my buzzer but did so incessantly even after I asked via intercom to please stop and I was coming down. It woke my roommate up and was very irritating. Food, amazing. But please read the delivery instructions!

I have ordered their dumplings a few times and they are always great! I also ordered the chicken with broccoli which was pretty standard for chicken with brocolli. Overall I would give this place a 3.5-4 stars and recommend it to others looking for a good Sunday chinese food spot.

They are very quick to prepare food and pick up and delivery is very convenient. I prefer the dumplings in a broth with broad noodles, and I think the chicken dumplings are better than the pork. Their dumplings are very meaty and a good size. Overall I give a 3 1/2 for taste and quality of the food and a 4 1/2 for timely delivery.

food took 1 hour to get here. When it did arrive was cold, super greasy. All in all completely mushy garbage. Do not ignore the other negative reviews as I did. I ate two dumplings and half an egg roll. It was terrible and hard to swallow. I threw the rest of the $28 dollars worth of crap in the trash. So super disappointing do not ruin your night and look elsewhere.

Ordered on a snow day, so granted it was going to take a while. But over 2 hours late, with no phone call. I called twice, and was told both times they would be there in 10 minutes. Plump Dumpling probably makes the best dumplings in NYC, and I only say "probably" because I haven't tried all the dumplings in the city yet. They're cheap, plump and come with lots of spice- you really can't go wrong. Oh and fast delivery too! I've been ordering from here for years and still love it.

The food was 'okay' but there are way better dumplings and Chinese food in the Area. Very Good value though, lots of food for cheap. The taro milk shake was good. However, I will probably order my dumplings elsewhere in the future.

I used to order from Plump Dumpling all the time, but I just had to wait over an hour and forty five minutes for my delivery, despite calling multiple times and having them say the food would be right there. Needless to say, when the food finally arrived, it was cold and now at almost 10:30 PM, I am ordering in pizza instead. I WILL NOT ORDER FROM PLUMP DUMPLING ANYMORE.

My most recent order from this restaurant was an order from hell. It took the restaurant nearly an hour to deliver my food that had all sorts of problems wrong with it. I tried telephoning them immediately to let them know but unfortunately they do not speak English so they were not able to understand my problems. This is why I have always ordered online with them.
First, the order was missing my egg drop soup. The noodles and shrimp, placed in a separate container, were soggy and smelled funny. When I placed the food into its sauce, the noodles just clumped up together and the soup tasted horrible. It was only luke warm with about 2 pieces of shrimp. In the other dish, I believe they were generous enough to give 3 pieces of chicken, with the plate still only about half-full.
The delivery itself was sloppy and the experience was horrendous. I am so highly disappointed with this order that I cannot believe I just wasted $16.81 on junk.
I have not reordered from this restaurant again and I would highly suggest you don't either.

Don't ever get noodles/noodle soups or anything else from here, they are gross. The noodles are completely tasteless, bland and dumped in soup that could have been dishwater. Also they mess up and don't bring your complete order and when you call back they are rude about it. Stay away from this place or you will regret it!!

BEST dumplings any way you have them. I have a serious addiction to dumplings and was so happy to find this place when I moved to the LES. Their dumplings are definitely handmade and a bar above the other dumplings in this 'hood. They are doughy and meaty. If you want thinner skinned "dumplings" order wontons (or wonton soup). I usually order the curry (pork) dumpling noodle soup because I also love curry and noodle soup. It is a bit greasy with the chili oil floating on top of the soup, but the whole combination is the perfect filling comfort food for rainy days, bad days, hungover days, celebratory days... I've ordered from here on seamless more than I've ordered from anyone else combined. That says it all!

Okay food. Fast delivery. Unfortunately, the order was not correct and they failed to include an item I paid for. I called to just have the money for that refunded and was asked if I wanted it delivered or a credit. Didn't seem worth having them come back and I am highly doubtful they'll remember the credit.

DO NOT ORDER FROM THIS PLACE. They charged me twice for the same order of shrimp shumai ($12 instead of $6 for ONE ORDER), and when I called to point this out to them, they told me I either had to let them bring me a second order, or get $6 off my next order.
When I told them I wanted the additional charge refunded, they said they couldn't do it because I paid credit. When I then asked them to give me $6 back in cash, they said no and hung up on me.
So, no, I don't recommend this place. They're cheaters and swindlers, at least from this one experience.

I ordered the "Ga Xao Cari Thap Cam", which was supposed to be "Curry hicken [sic] with mixed vegetables and coconut milk." What I got was some sad stir fried vegetables with maybe a slice of chicken. It definitely wasn't curry, and there was no discernible coconut.
So, despite the fact that they were cheap on the chicken, and hell, didn't give me what I ordered as advertised, it wasn't bad. I got my fill for 10 bucks of mediocre Chinese food pretending to be something else.
Overall: typical fast food chinese place that tries to bill itself as many things that is isn't.
For what it's worth, my friend ordered the "Crispy Pan-Fried Noodles" which was OK; at the very least, it was accurate to the description.

BIG PROBLEM !!!!!!!! The food is good but from time to time they forget part of the order. The delivery man who is an older gentleman can be VERY!! rude especially if he is not happy with his tip. He is not content with a three dollar tip for a twenty dollar delivery that is only two blocks away, There are a lot of neighborhoods where people never tip. This is not one of them , but you may turn it in to one.

When I placed my order, the estimated delivery time was 30-45 min. Similar to other reviewers, I still had not received my order after an hour and had to call to ask what was going on. I was told that the delivery guy was on his way, and he arrived about 10 minutes later. No silverware, and the containers were sitting in a huge puddle of sauce. Worst hot and sour soup I've had- hardly any pieces of tofu, and zero mushrooms.

The food from Plump Dumpling is actually quite good. I know this because my brother who lives in the apartment next door to mine orders from there all the time. Everything that I had from there before was delicious. Whenever my brother would order, they would be here within 30-45 minutes, but my experience was vastly different.
I had a craving for Chinese food and so I used Seamless Web for the very first time to order from Plump Dumpling thinking that I'd be eating in 45 minutes max. An hour went by and then I got a phone call asking what apartment I was in and why I didn't answer. I went downstairs to see if the delivery guy was there; no dice, not even a bicycle outside. I called Seamless Web who promptly refunded my order despite the restaurant not wanting to refund it.
So all in all, a very frustrating experience from the restaurant perspective. Seamless Web saved the day though, so props to them!

The food is great but I think I was just assaulted by the delivery man.
He did not buzz or call and then proceeded to yell in the hallway incoherently.
I was walking to the door when my phone rang. It was him, and he yelled just as loudly over the phone. I'm not sure how he got in to the building, now that I think about it.
The food is wonderful, but I won't be ordering from them again.

Delivery took over an hour. Food was cold when it got there (so much so that the fat at the bottom of the container had resolidified -- eew). The "mixed" dumplings were not 2 of each kind but 5 pork and 3 vegetable. And the fried rice was tasteless. I gave it to my dog.

Do not waste your time or money. Food was mediocre and they sent the wrong dish, and forget our sides. When we called, I was brushed off and told that someone would call me back. 20 minutes later I had to call back to speak with the manager who told me he did not have time to deal with it because he was too busy. I had to call seamless web directly to receive a refund.

The food was almost average; tasty but soggy Vietnamese rolls, good wonton soup but a big wad of bone in one of the wontons. The delivery, however, did not go seamlessly as the deliveryman kept trying to get me to pay cash for the order I'd already paid for through SeamlessWeb, even pulling out his phone to make me discuss the payment with his boss (who agreed it was paid already). After I told the deliveryman it was paid in full for the fourth time, he then asked for the tip in cash (also already paid). Not good.

It's a shame the food from this place is so good and cheap. The service, on the other hand, was horrible. I waited an hour (for noodle soup and dumplings!), before calling the restaurant twice only to reach someone who spoke no english and couldn't tell me a thing about my order. Then when the delivery man finally came he refused to bring the food upstairs and yelled at me to come down to meet him at the front door. The food was still hot somehow and delicious - but next time i'll just pick up from the restaurant instead of waiting for delivery.

I prefer Dumpling Man, but they don't deliver for lunch so when the dumpling urge comes along midday, I opt for Plump Dumpling.
Posted 5 years ago by Michelle M.
Probably the worst experience we've had at Plump Dumpling. First the food was over 40 minutes late, so we called to see how it was coming. The woman on the phone said the delivery guy was already on his way and it STILL took almost a half hour after that (an hour and ten minutes total from when we called). Our place is 9 blocks away. When the food came, the delivery guy was very rude and in a hurry, but that could have accounted for how long it took him to deliver (maybe multiple deliveries).
Then when the food came, my dumplings were cold. Now I'm no stranger to chicken wings with a few stray feathers in them, but each of the 4 wings had at least 10 visible feathers sticking out of them. It was disgusting.
Then to top it all off, my girlfriend's dumpling soup had a 6-inch long black hair cooked into one of the dumplings. Too many problems to just be coincidence. Don't eat here.

One star only because the hot and sour soup is good. Everything else is bland. Ma po tofu was tofu only. Shrimp with black beans sauce had no black beans at all. Chicken with vegetables was boring. They ignored notes about a food allergy.

Food was good, but a little cold. Also, they forgot my scallion pancakes.
